Fabric Guide

Listed below is all of the fabrics that SF will offer, items will have a "recommended fabric" in the description section. Fabrics with an asterisk (*) next to them are considered premium bases and need to be purchased as such. Natural fabrics are more likely to fade with wash and wear due to differentials in the printing process. Synthetic fibers are not recommended for sleeping babies or babies at risk of overheating. 

 

Smooth Poly (DBP) : This is the most common fabric that is used at SF. It is a soft fabric with tons of stretch and a smooth texture. Synthetic fibers polyester/spandex mixture. May be slightly see through when stretched a lot or with lighter prints/colors. Available in prints and solids. Not recommended for sleeping babies, due to breathability. 

 

Wide Rib (8x3) : Thin, breathable, soft, with tons of stretch. Very similar to the Smooth Poly, with more breathability. Ribbed texture. Synthetic fibers  polyester/spandex mixture. May be see through when stretched a lot or with lighter colors/prints. Available in prints and solids. 

 

Skinny Rib (4x2) : Thicker than the Wide Rib (8x3) with slightly less stretch. Slightly softer with thinner ribbing texture. Breathable fabric available in prints and solids. Synthetic fibers polyester/spandex mixture. 

 

* Bamboo 200 (light)  : Soft, thin material with great stretch. May be slightly see through with when stretched or with lighter prints/colors. Darker/more saturated prints/colors are more likely to fade with wash & wear. due to differential in the printing process. Natural fibers Bamboo/spandex mixture. Available in prints and solids.

 

* Bamboo 240 (Heavy) : Soft material, slightly thicker than the lightweight bamboo. Great stretch and stability. Darker/more saturated prints/colors are more likely to fade with wash & wear. due to differential in the printing process. Natural fibers Bamboo/spandex mixture. Available in prints and solids.

 

* Bamboo Cotton Spandex (BCS) : Soft material similar to the heavy bamboo. Great stretch and stability. Darker/more saturated prints/colors are more likely to fade with wash & wear. due to differential in the printing process. Natural fibers Bamboo/Cotton/Spandex mixture. Available in prints and solids.

 

* French Terry : Great for cold weather items. medium-heavy weight, minimal stretch compared to other bases. Smooth texture on the outside, inside has tiny woven loops. Available in solid (thinner) or printed (slightly thicker) -- Printed is a natural fiber base ( cotton/spandex mixture ) and will not print as vibrantly as other bases.

 

* Cotton Spandex : Similar to the Bamboo Cotton Spandex. This is a soft, breathable fabric with lots of stretch and stability. Natural fibers Cotton/Spandex mixture. Darker/more saturated prints/colors are more likely to fade with wash & wear. due to differential in the printing process. Available in prints and solids.

 

* Velvet : Soft, heavier weight, has lots of stretch. Smooth texture. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.

* Iced Velvet (Crushed Velvet) : Soft, lighter than Velvet, lots of stretch. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.

* Ribbed Velvet : Soft, mid-weight, lots of stretch. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.

* Velvet Corduroy : Corduroy look with velvet texture. Ribs go horizontally. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.

* Holo : Metallic style finish with smooth interior. Heavier weight with stretch. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.

* Waved Rib (Urban Rib) : Very soft, tons of stretch, breathable, warm. Ribbed texture with waving. Synthetic fibers. Available in solid colors only.

* Cozy Sweater : Not recommended for anything snug fitting, great for cardigans/sweaters. Fuzzy soft with minimal stretch. Available in solids only. Synthetic fibers.
